Fatal Encounter Woman Shot by Police in NY!

A tragic incident occurred early Saturday when a woman was fatally shot by state troopers in response to a reported domestic dispute. The events unfolded around 2:30 a.m. at a residence on Forrest Drive in Deerpark, a town in Orange County near the Pennsylvania border. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man on the front porch who informed them that a woman inside the home was armed with a knife and a gun, and had allegedly stabbed him in the stomach.

Minutes later, the 69-year-old woman emerged from the house and reportedly aimed a handgun at the officers, prompting two of them to open fire, according to state police. The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was rushed to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis where she later succumbed to her injuries. The man’s non-life-threatening wounds were treated at the scene, and no troopers were harmed during the altercation.

The circumstances leading up to the initial incident remain unclear, and an investigation is ongoing. This unfortunate shooting marked the fourth involving upstate police during that week. In separate incidents, a man in Malta was shot and killed by troopers after allegedly firing a high-powered rifle, another individual in Saratoga County was fatally shot after brandishing a BB gun at officers, and a suspect in Sullivan County was apprehended following a gunfire exchange with a sheriff’s deputy.
