Emergency services closed a section of London Road as they responded to a tragic incident where a 25-year-old woman lost her life and two others sustained serious injuries when a car struck pedestrians outside a leisure park. The pedestrians, including the woman’s 12-year-old sister and their 19-year-old cousin, were hit by a grey BMW 3 Series at approximately 20:35 BST on Saturday. A 33-year-old man, arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs, is currently in police custody. All three pedestrians were from the local area, and the woman’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers. Chief Inspector James Davidson expressed condolences to the victims’ family and emphasized the need for privacy. He urged anyone with information or footage related to the incident to come forward, as investigations are ongoing.
