A woman has sought legal protection against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy after a domestic incident led to Worthy’s arrest earlier this month. The woman was awarded a temporary ex-parte protective order against Worthy in Williamson County District Court, according to court documents obtained by the Austin American-Statesman. This order can be effective for up to 20 days, as per Williamson County regulations.
In a statement to the Statesman on Wednesday, the woman’s attorney revealed, “Today, (the woman) filed for a protective order against Xavier Worthy, citing his violent behavior towards her that peaked on the night of March 7, 2025. Based on the provided information, a judge has granted a temporary protective order in her favor. She is cooperating fully with law enforcement as they investigate the events of that night.”
The protective order was issued nearly a week after Worthy’s arrest on an assault charge against a family or household member in Williamson County, Texas. The District Attorney initially chose not to pursue charges after speaking with witnesses, but reserves the option to do so in the future.
It remains uncertain whether the temporary protective order will result in criminal charges. The District Attorney’s office declined to comment on the matter, stating that they are collaborating with the Sheriff’s Office on ongoing investigations.
Worthy’s legal representatives have refuted the allegations against him, asserting that he was involved in a disagreement with a woman who refused to leave his property and accused her of causing physical harm and damage. Worthy professes his innocence, as expressed through his lawyers.
“We are aware of the civil court filing by the alleged victim and her legal team. Mr. Worthy denies all accusations,” his lawyers stated. “Unfortunately, baseless claims persist, even in civil court. The accuser has returned some stolen items taken from Mr. Worthy’s residence during his absence, with some items still missing from when he was incarcerated. Mr. Worthy maintains his innocence, aligning with the District Attorney’s findings following law enforcement’s assessment of the woman’s unproven allegations.”
