Exclusive Preakness in Play for Journalism Owners!

The opportunity still exists for Kentucky Derby runner-up Journalism to compete in the May 17 Preakness Stakes, a chance the Derby winner Sovereignty has declined. Despite winning the Kentucky Derby, Sovereignty has opted out of the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore. Journalism, who finished second in the Derby, is currently recovering at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky and is being closely monitored. There is a possibility that Journalism may participate in the Preakness as no final decision has been made yet. Aron Wellman, CEO of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, expressed the intention to consider all factors before determining Journalism’s next move. Although Journalism was the favorite at the Derby, the team is taking a measured approach in deciding the horse’s participation in the upcoming race.
