Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot graced the red carpet at the world premiere of Disney’s “Snow White” in Hollywood. Photographers captured Zegler in a stunning light pink ballgown and sparkling diamonds, while Gadot, portraying the Evil Queen, also posed for the cameras at the event outside the El Capitan Theatre. The premiere was a more intimate affair, with Disney-employed interviewers and a smaller number of reporters present.
Alongside Zegler and Gadot, other cast members and key creatives, including Martin Klebba, Jason Kravits, and director Marc Webb, walked the red carpet. The pre-party celebration, held before the screening, offered various activities for guests, including sponsored installations and refreshments like apple-infused drinks. The event marked another stop on Zegler and Gadot’s promotional tour, which included appearances at the Oscars and international promotions for the film.
Despite the excitement surrounding the premiere, “Snow White” has faced controversy since its early stages, particularly regarding Zegler’s casting as the princess. Despite this, the cast and crew continue to promote the film and engage with audiences around the world.
The actress’s Colombian background was cited as a reason she couldn’t play the fantasy princess, described with black hair and white skin. Social media backlash grew louder over time. In the summer of 2022, Zegler shared in interviews that her version of the iconic princess wouldn’t revolve around pursuing a man. She critiqued elements of the original story as “weird” and criticized the prince’s behavior in the 1937 film as “stalking” Snow White, leading fans to question her suitability for the role due to her expressed “disdain.” Zegler addressed the online hate in an October Variety cover story, clarifying that while Snow White desires romance, she also has other ambitions. She emphasized the importance of the love story in the narrative and clarified that the portrayal of romance was always part of the plan, despite the day’s discussion focusing elsewhere.
In 2022, “Game of Thrones” actor Peter Dinklage also spoke up about the movie’s representation of individuals with dwarfism, pointing out negative stereotypes perpetuated by the animated version of “Snow White” and expressing concerns about the live-action adaptation. In response, Disney announced a different approach for the seven dwarf characters, consulting with members of the dwarfism community to avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original film.
At the world premiere of Disney’s “Snow White,” attendees included Marc E. Platt, Marc Webb, Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Jared LeBoff. Zegler posed with Emilia Faucher, who portrays the younger Snow White in the film, while Gadot embraced a young fan dressed as Snow White. Other celebrities, such as Martin Klebba, Marc E. Platt, and screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson, also graced the red carpet. Zegler interacted with young fans dressed as Snow White, and Idriss Kargbo was also spotted at the event.
