Exclusive First Photo of Pope Emerges Post-Hospitalization!

Pope Francis was photographed at the chapel in Gemelli Hospital in Rome on Sunday, March 16, marking his first public appearance since being hospitalized. The Vatican Press Office released the photo, showing Francis wearing a stole as he concelebrated Mass at the hospital chapel. This was the first time the Pope had concelebrated Mass since his hospitalization a month ago, indicating a positive step in his recovery. The Vatican reported that despite undergoing treatments and therapies, Francis continued to work and did not receive any visitors on Sunday.

At 88 years old, Pope Francis has been battling pneumonia during his longest hospital stay since becoming pontiff 12 years ago. In a pre-recorded message for his weekly Angelus prayer, he expressed gratitude for the prayers and well-wishes from supporters during this challenging time. Schoolchildren gathered outside the hospital, holding yellow and white balloons representing the colors of the Holy See, chanting “viva il papa” as a show of solidarity.

The children prayed together and some of them entered the hospital to present balloons and flowers to the Pope. In his message, Francis thanked everyone for their prayers and expressed his love for the children, emphasizing the importance of continued prayers for peace in conflict-ridden countries.

Despite his stable condition, the Vatican press office noted that the Pope still required medical treatment, including high-flow oxygen therapy during the day. While receiving non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night, his need for it has decreased over time. Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis has confirmed his commitment to his role by approving a new three-year reform process for the Catholic Church. This story will be updated with any further developments.
