Danny Pintauro is currently recovering from a scooter accident that occurred over the holidays and left him hospitalized with a significant scar on his abdomen. On Monday, January 6, the former “Who’s The Boss” actor marked his 49th birthday by bravely showcasing the scar resulting from the accident, which took place on November 28, 2024, the night of Thanksgiving.
In an Instagram post, Pintauro shared his unique birthday celebration, beginning with a bottle of @barefootwine Limited Edition Pride 2020 Rose that he had saved for a special occasion. He expressed gratitude for surviving 2024 and looked forward to thriving in 2025, sharing an impromptu scar reveal photoshoot set to the tune of Ariana Grande’s “Sweetener.”
The video depicted Pintauro bare-chested with a visible diagonal scar running from under his chest to above his navel as he poured himself a glass of wine to commemorate his birthday and continued existence.
Pintauro disclosed details of the accident in a candid Instagram post on December 1, accompanied by footage of him in a hospital bed with a breathing tube. He recounted the harrowing experience of riding a scooter in a bike lane only to find it obstructed by cones, forcing him to make a split-second decision between a van and a pylon, ultimately colliding with the latter. The actor humorously remarked, “pylons hurt!!”
Further elaborating on his injuries, Pintauro shared that he initially thought he had broken his arm from the impact. However, the pain intensified over the following days, leading him to seek medical attention on November 30. His husband, Wil Tabares, rushed him to Memorial Care Miller Hospital in Long Beach, California, where tests revealed an infection in his bloodstream due to a tear in his stomach lining, causing air and stomach acid to leak into his abdomen.
Pintauro emphasized the severity of the situation, acknowledging that had he delayed seeking medical care, the outcome could have been fatal. He underscored the importance of listening to one’s body and recognizing signs of distress.
In a subsequent update on December 19, Pintauro informed his followers on Instagram of undergoing a laparotomy, a surgical procedure to address the abdominal injury he sustained. The operation, often performed in emergency situations, involved the removal of stitches and tubes, signifying a significant step towards recovery.
Despite still having a few weeks left in his healing process, Pintauro expressed relief at being free from physical restrictions and shared his improved well-being. He also directed followers to a GoFundMe page to assist with any expenses not covered by insurance.
In a recent social media post, Pintauro expressed his gratitude to supporters for surpassing the fundraising goal of $5,000, indicating a strong show of solidarity during his challenging ordeal.
