Exciting Updates and Gradual Warming: What to Expect This Spring!

As we welcome the arrival of spring, the weather may not yet match the season. The Old Farmer’s Almanac and the Farmers’ Almanac have both shared their spring weather forecasts to assist both gardeners and families in planning for the upcoming months. Unlike daily weather predictions that rely on current data and models, these almanacs take a comprehensive approach to long-term forecasts, considering factors like solar activity, climatology, and meteorology. While predicting weather a year in advance is no easy feat, both almanacs pride themselves on accurate forecasts, even though their spring outlooks for 2025 differ in certain aspects. The experts at The Old Farmer’s Almanac anticipate above-average temperatures nationwide, except in specific regions like Southern and Central California, the Desert Southwest, southern Florida, and the western Ohio Valley. They advise holding onto your jackets in the Intermountain West as chilly spells might lead to late frosts in May. The upcoming spring is anticipated to bring an active severe weather season, particularly in the Deep South, with frequent thunderstorms expected. Meanwhile, the Farmers’ Almanac anticipates cooler and stormier conditions across most of the U.S., with warmth in the Southeast. Though both almanacs agree on cooler temperatures lingering into June in the Pacific Northwest, discrepancies arise in other regions like the Midwest, Great Lakes, New England, and Northeast. Both forecasts enjoy pleasant conditions for Easter weekend in some zones, while predicting rain across many areas on Memorial Day.
