Shortly after, Wahlberg confirmed the commencement of production by sharing a snapshot from the first Boston Blue table read. Seated beside Sonequa Martin-Green, who portrays the lead character Lena Silver, Wahlberg labeled the moment as “a new chapter” in his journey. The photo displayed the pilot script and his name plate, accompanied by a blue heart emoji, symbolizing his enthusiasm for the upcoming venture.
Boston Blue, announced on February 18 following the finale of Blue Bloods, will revolve around Detective Danny Reagan (played by Wahlberg) as he transitions to the Boston PD. Partnered with Detective Lena Silver, portrayed by Martin-Green, the show will explore their dynamic within a prominent law enforcement family. The cast also includes Gloria Reuben, Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson, and Marcus Scribner.
