Exciting Announcement: Unveiling a Mysterious Thriller Featuring Beloved Actresses!

Get ready for the much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 noir comedy sensation by Paul Feig, “Another Simple Favor.” This thrilling movie, starring the talented duo of Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, is set to kick off the SXSW Film and TV Festival in Austin, Texas. The festival organizers recently revealed that the follow-up to “A Simple Flavor” will mark the beginning of this year’s festival on March 7. In this Amazon MGM release, viewers can expect an enthralling narrative packed with twists, murders, and betrayals as Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) venture to an Italian wedding on the beautiful island of Capri.

Claudette Godfrey, the festival’s vice president, shared, “When we first laid eyes on this film last autumn, we were captivated by its energy and intrigue, making it the perfect choice to open SXSW. It truly embodies the excitement and creativity we seek as programmers.” Feig has had a longstanding presence at SXSW, with previous screenings of his works-in-progress like “Bridesmaids” in 2011 and the premiere of “Spy” in 2015.

For Lively, “Another Simple Favor” marks her return to the big screen after the release of “It Ends With Us” last year. However, her comeback is overshadowed by a legal dispute involving Lively, her co-star Baldoni, and the director of “It Ends With Us.” In late December, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his production company, and others citing sexual harassment and damaging her reputation, seeking unspecified damages. Subsequently, Baldoni countersued last month, accusing Lively and her spouse, Ryan Reynolds, of defamation and extortion, seeking a staggering $400 million in damages. A trial date has been set for March 2026.

In addition to the premiere of “Another Simple Favor,” SXSW also announced the opening night showcase of the upcoming Hollywood comedy series “The Studio” featuring Seth Rogen. The prestigious film festival, now celebrating its 32nd year, is scheduled to run from March 7 to March 14.
