Jamie Cooper fled in Lancashire after jumping from the back of a GEOAmey van that had stopped on the M55 near Preston. What happened?
Jamie Cooper broke free while being transported to Lancaster Magistrates’ Court in a GEOAmey-owned prison van around 08:50 GMT on Wednesday, according to Lancashire Police. A GEOAmey spokesperson stated that the prisoner overpowered officers by pretending to have a medical emergency on board, leading the van to pull over at Junction 2 of the M55 near Catforth, Preston. Following this, the prisoner escaped from the vehicle, prompting Lancashire Police to launch a search.
Who is Jamie Cooper?
33-year-old Jamie Cooper, originally from Blackpool and also linked to Bolton, is approximately 5ft 7in tall with a medium build and short hair. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a blue coat, blue jeans, and black trainers. Cooper was due in court to face charges of assaulting a police officer and criminal damage.

The last confirmed sighting of Cooper was in the early hours of Thursday in Blackpool. Additional sightings were reported in Preston and Bolton on Wednesday. Lancashire Police have circulated an image of Cooper for public awareness.
