Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s Amazing Love Story

The former talk show host, aged 67, posted a lovely silhouette selfie with her 52-year-old retired actress wife on Instagram on Thursday, March 20. The photo, taken at sunset, was captioned by Ellen with, “20 years together. Happy to be with you everywhere and always.”
In December, the couple commemorated their 20-year relationship as Ellen poured her heart out in a touching tribute. She expressed, “20 years ago today we began this relationship not realizing what a long beautiful adventure this would be. You are the best thing that ever happened in my life. You take care of me. You help me see the good in everything. You help to guide me and pick me up when I feel off or down.”

This heartfelt message was accompanied by a photo of the pair cosying up at their new residence in the English countryside, where they settled in fall 2024. Ellen praised de Rossi as a “beautiful soul” and continued, “My wife. My best friend. The love of my life. Thank you for being you and loving me.”
In addition to reminiscing about their two decades of love, Ellen also joked about experiencing their first “snowy Christmas” in England with the former Ally McBeal star. She reassured fans that their new UK farmhouse had not been affected by the storms that hit the country in December.

Ellen, whose long-running talk show ended in May 2022, decided to move abroad after falling in love with a house in the UK. A source confirmed to PEOPLE in November 2024 that she and de Rossi had relocated to the Cotswolds.
During their house-hunting trip in October, the couple was seen at The Farmer’s Dog, a pub owned by English TV presenter and journalist Jeremy Clarkson in the Cotswolds. The source revealed, “They hung out with [Clarkson’s partner, actress] Lisa Hogan and James Blunt, and The Corrs performed at the pub.”
The Cotswolds is a popular destination for UK celebrities, with famous names like the Beckhams, Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, artist Damian Hirst, and former British Prime Minister David Cameron owning homes there. King Charles’ estate, Highgrove House, is also situated in the Cotswolds.
