Eggs Scattered on Oklahoma Turnpike Following Mysterious Highway Collision

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, a wintry havoc wreaked havoc on Tuesday, bringing forth snow, ice, and treacherous traveling conditions that resulted in numerous accidents, one of which involved a truck carrying a precious cargo of eggs. The incident, captured in a photo, occurred on the Will Rogers Turnpike near the border of Oklahoma and Missouri.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol disclosed that a semi-truck transporting eggs was caught up in a multi-vehicle collision on the highway. Fortunately, the authorities reported only minor injuries among those involved. However, given the soaring prices of eggs, the loss of the cargo was a significant outcome of the mishap. The destination of the eggs remains undisclosed.

Recent consumer data indicated that the average price of a dozen Grade A eggs stood at approximately $4.95, marking a substantial increase over the past eighteen months.

Contrary to popular belief, the act of flushing ice cubes down the toilet will not lead to a snow day. The inclement wintry weather experienced across the Plains on Tuesday was attributed to the energy associated with an impending nor’easter.

In the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, preparations were underway for a minor ice accumulation of less than a tenth of an inch. Meanwhile, regions to the northeast braced for more severe conditions, with forecasts anticipating over half a foot of ice and snow.

The situation was further complicated by gusty winds and arctic air, resulting in near-blizzard conditions in certain areas. Urging caution, the Oklahoma City police advised residents to avoid driving if possible, warning of accidents caused by slippery roads. They emphasized driving slowly and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, as officers were not responding to non-injury accidents due to the high number of incidents.

Throughout the workweek, wind chills were projected to plummet well below zero, posing a serious risk of dangerously cold outdoor conditions.

A deadly winter storm was predicted to unleash heavy snowfall from the Plains to North Carolina, encompassing areas already grappling with flooding. Over 20 million residents spanning from central Kansas to the Tennessee Valley and the mid-Atlantic found themselves under Winter Storm Warnings as a potent system threatened to bring substantial snow and ice accumulation.

In North Carolina and southern Virginia, significant snowfall and icy conditions were expected to intensify by midweek, with locales like Norfolk, Virginia, anticipating more than 8 inches of snow and ice.

The storm system was anticipated to intensify as it traversed the Gulf Stream but was expected to largely steer clear of major metropolitan areas along the Interstate 95 corridor in the Northeast, sparing them from significant impacts.
