Another incident of egg theft has been reported, this time involving two men who targeted a restaurant in west Seattle in the early hours of the morning. The thieves made off with approximately 540 eggs and other breakfast items from Luna Park Cafe, as egg prices continue to rise due to shortages nationwide. The cafe owner, Heong Soon Park, arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted to the theft. Surveillance footage revealed that the thieves made two trips to the walk-in refrigerator that night, managing to escape before the police arrived. The stolen items, including eggs, liquid egg products, bacon, ground beef, and blueberries, were valued at $780. Despite efforts to enhance security measures at the restaurant, no arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation. Meanwhile, in Pennsylvania, authorities are still pursuing leads in the case of the stolen 100,000 organic eggs valued at $40,000. Pete & Gerry’s Organics, the affected facility, is taking steps to enhance security measures following the incident.
The Pennsylvania State Police did not respond promptly to USA TODAY’s request for comment on Monday evening. This incident occurred shortly after egg thieves targeted a Seattle cafe, just days following a similar egg heist in Pennsylvania. Contributors to this article are Eric Lagatta and Anthony Robledo.
