Edwards’ Explosive 41-Point Performance Leads Wolves to Eighth Straight Victory Over Struggling Jazz

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Anthony Edwards had an impressive game on Sunday, scoring 41 points to help the Minnesota Timberwolves secure their eighth consecutive win by defeating the Utah Jazz 128-102. Jaden McDaniels recorded a double-double by halftime with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Donte DiVincenzo contributed 11 points and seven assists for the Timberwolves. The team is currently engaged in a close battle with Golden State for the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings. Collin Sexton led the scoring for Utah with 22 points, supported by Walker Kessler’s 15 points and 19 rebounds, and Laurie Markkanen’s 16 points. The Jazz have now suffered nine consecutive losses.

In a dominant performance, Edwards made 16 of 27 shots, including five 3-pointers, marking his seventh game this season with over 40 points. The Jazz struggled without key players Keyonte George and John Collins, committing 22 turnovers and lacking offensive consistency. The Timberwolves’ last defeat was against Utah on Feb. 28, a game in which they were missing three starters.

A significant moment in the game was when Edwards scored 19 points in the first eight minutes, finishing with a powerful dunk over the 7-foot Kessler to put Minnesota ahead 28-12. Edwards also moved up to third place on the Timberwolves’ all-time scoring list with 8,731 career points, trailing only Kevin Garnett and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Both teams will play again on Monday, with the Timberwolves hosting Indiana and Utah taking on the Bulls in Chicago.
