The NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center warns that over 28 million people in the region are at risk of severe thunderstorms on Monday, with a Level 2 risk – out of 5 – affecting more than 9 million individuals from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. Cities like Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Charleston, and Lexington are in the danger zone, with threats of damaging winds, large hail, and even possible tornadoes.
Efforts are underway to clean up areas along the Ohio River in Louisville following recent heavy rainfall that flooded the region. The city’s focus is on restoring damaged infrastructure and public spaces ahead of the upcoming Kentucky Derby, set to take place in 22 days. Mayor Craig Greenberg is optimistic about the city’s restoration plan for the event.
In space news, a highly-anticipated mission featuring an all-female crew aboard a Blue Origin rocket is scheduled to launch from West Texas on Monday.
