Eagles soar to victory over Packers, advance to divisional round!

Jalen Hurts threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns as the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Green Bay Packers 22-10 in a wild-card playoff matchup on Sunday. Jahan Dotson and Dallas Goedert each recorded a touchdown reception for Philadelphia, currently holding the No. 2 seed in the NFC. They are set to host a divisional round game next Sunday, facing off against the victor of the Vikings-Rams game scheduled for Monday night. Running back Saquon Barkley led the ground game with 25 carries for 119 yards.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged the offensive struggles despite the victory, with Green Bay outgaining Philadelphia 302-290. Sirianni praised Hurts, stating, “Jalen is a winner. He wins. No one can argue that.”

Josh Jacobs found the end zone for the Packers’ lone touchdown. Despite his efforts, Green Bay concluded their season with three consecutive losses. Quarterback Jordan Love completed 20 of 33 passes for 212 yards but also threw three interceptions.

The Eagles wasted no time setting the tone, forcing a turnover on the opening kickoff. Special-teams player Oren Burks dislodged the ball from Packers returner Keisean Nixon, allowing Philadelphia’s Jeremiah Trotter Jr. to recover the fumble at the Green Bay 28-yard line. Head coach Sirianni commended Burks, calling the play a “tone-setter.” Hurts capitalized on the field position, connecting with Dotson for an 11-yard touchdown.

Philadelphia extended their lead to 10-0 with a field goal from Jake Elliott in the final minute of the first quarter. Green Bay responded with a field goal from Brandon McManus to narrow the gap in the third quarter.

Dallas Goedert showcased his physicality and determination on a 24-yard touchdown reception, pushing the Eagles to a 16-3 lead after a failed extra-point attempt by Elliott. Despite a touchdown from Jacobs bringing the Packers within six points, Elliott’s field goals secured the victory for Philadelphia, with the final score at 22-10.

Sirianni praised Goedert’s toughness, stating, “Nobody in this league is as violent and as physical as Dallas Goedert with the ball in his hands.” The Eagles’ resilience and physicality were on full display during the game.

Reflecting on the loss, Packers coach Matt LaFleur acknowledged the disappointment and highlighted the need for growth in the offseason. LaFleur expressed hope that the defeat would serve as motivation for a strong comeback next season.

Injuries impacted the Packers’ roster, with wide receiver Romeo Doubs exiting the game in the third quarter after a helmet-related incident. Jayden Reed also suffered a shoulder injury later in the game, sidelining him for the remainder of the matchup.

The Eagles’ victory solidified their position in the playoffs, showcasing their determination and ability to overcome challenges on both sides of the ball. Hurts
