Dustin Johnson Invited to PGA Championship – A Dream Come True!

Dustin Johnson, a member of LIV Golf, is set to compete in the upcoming PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. The list of participants, released on Tuesday, confirms Johnson’s participation. As a two-time major champion, he secured victories at the 2016 U.S. Open and the 2020 Masters Tournament. While his Masters triumph granted him automatic entry into five subsequent PGA Championships, that exemption expired last year. Johnson’s inclusion in the event was made possible by a special invitation from the PGA of America. Notably, he achieved second-place finishes in the PGA Championship in 2019 and 2020.

At 40 years old, Johnson has recorded top-10 finishes in two LIV events this season, though he missed the cut at the Masters in April. Previously a 24-time winner on the PGA Tour, Johnson has added three additional titles since transitioning to the LIV circuit. Among other LIV Golf members featured in the tournament are Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Tyrrell Hatton, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, and Cameron Smith.

The defending PGA Championship victor is Xander Schauffele, who emerged victorious in the Valhalla Golf Club event in Louisville, Kentucky. Schauffele is joined in the field by top-ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler and recent Masters winner Rory McIlroy. The final spot in the competition will be awarded to the winner of the current Myrtle Beach Classic.
