Cornerback Jalen Ramsey’s tenure with the Miami Dolphins seems to be nearing its end, as both parties have agreed to explore trade opportunities. Ramsey signed an extension this spring which includes $91.8 million over four years, with $21.5 million guaranteed until 2025. The 30-year-old joined Miami in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, missing early games due to injury but still earning his seventh Pro Bowl nod.
Ramsey’s contract extension in 2022 made him the highest-paid cornerback, but that title has since been surpassed by Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. Miami has already paid Ramsey a $4 million roster bonus, and any new team acquiring him would owe $21.1 million this season out of his guaranteed $25.1 million. There is no strict deadline for a trade, but the Dolphins are keen on finalizing a deal before the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24.
Dolphins GM Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel are looking to bolster the cornerback position through the draft, with Miami holding the 13th overall pick and a total of ten selections.
