Role Model’s No Place Like tour made a stop at the Brooklyn Paramount for a sold-out show on March 15, 2025. In a satirical take on fame, the artist, originally known as Tucker Pillsbury, playfully refers to himself as Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Taylor Swift, even signing his setlists with their names. Despite this unconventional approach, the audience at Brooklyn Paramount fully embraced his humor.
Formerly associated with indie artists in Los Angeles, Role Model transitioned from synth-based music on his debut album “Rx” to a more folk-inspired sound on his second collection, “Kansas Anymore.” With influences from rising indie folk stars like Noah Kahan and Lizzy McAlpine, the artist showcased a newfound maturity in his storytelling, particularly focusing on themes of heartbreak and homesickness.
The evening began with a captivating performance by emerging folk artist Debbii Dawson, setting the stage for Role Model’s emotionally charged set. Fans eagerly awaited his appearance, with some dedicated followers securing front-row spots after waiting since dawn. Once on stage, Role Model mesmerized the crowd with tracks from “Kansas Anymore,” creating a shared experience of healing and connection through music.
Despite apologizing for his strained voice, Role Model engaged with his audience in a lighthearted manner, playfully interacting with fans and sharing inside jokes from the current album cycle. Known for his genuine appreciation of his supporters, the artist created a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at the Brooklyn Paramount show, fostering a strong bond with his dedicated fanbase.
During the performance of “Compromise,” which was the final slow song of the night, a moment was taken to express gratitude to the audience. “I often crack jokes, so let me be serious for a moment,” he shared. “I understand the effort it takes to attend concerts. Some of you wait all day long… some of you travel by car, plane, or train… some of you even skip work or school. Your sacrifices to be here do not go unnoticed, and I truly appreciate you.” The crowd erupted with singing and excitement as Role Model graced the stage at Brooklyn Paramount.
In a unique twist, one lucky fan was chosen to be Role Model’s “Sally” for the performance of “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,” reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl” tradition. Past “Sallys” have included singer-songwriter Ashe, influencer Jake Shane, and podcaster Grace O’Malley.
During a recent show in Brooklyn, a fan was invited on stage for a “diva-off,” receiving cheers from the crowd as they danced and sang to the lyrics, “Heard through the grapevine she can be a diva / Cold like Minnesota / Hotter than a fever.” Role Model then surprised the audience by returning to perform the lead single from “Kansas Anymore” and the closing song of the night, an energetic track titled “Deeply Still in Love.”
The night concluded with Role Model circling back to where it all began, belting out the words: “I’m sorry but I’m deeply still in love with you.”
The setlist for the No Place Like Home tour included songs such as “Writing’s on the Wall,” “Scumbag,” “Superglue,” and a cover of The 1975’s “Somebody Else,” among others.
