Opting for a silk mural crafted by Phillip Jeffries, adorned with striking blue peonies to invigorate and inspire the residents each morning, oversized floral wallpapers are poised to become the favored bedroom trend of the year.
Despite having a singular authentic window in the room, Brown faced a challenge in realizing his vision. The presence of original crown molding initially appeared to hinder his plans for window treatments. With the primary bedroom leading to a sun-soaked sunroom in the sunny locale of Palm Beach, Brown ingeniously treated the door to this space as an additional window. He devised mid-century style frames for opulent wool and silk blend draperies that extended above the crown molding and reached up to the ceiling, creating an illusion of heightened space. Employing solar shades from The Shade Store in a bouclé-like texture, the owners can shield themselves from the intense Florida sun whenever extra rest is desired.
“I aimed to craft a design that could seamlessly transition across various settings, be it a penthouse, condo, or a historic Mizner estate,” Brown explains. “While adopting a modern perspective, my intention is to showcase that preserving the architectural heritage of older spaces is achievable by enhancing or complementing existing details to achieve the desired aesthetic.” In alignment with this ethos, Brown decided to conceal the original wood flooring with a luxurious rug reminiscent of a cashmere sweater by Sacco, favoring it over a large area rug to cultivate a serene atmosphere. Enhancing the coziness factor, the bed was adorned with sumptuous sateen sheets and a cashmere blanket from Pioneer Linens. Brown strategically balances the boldness of the space with comfort, a non-negotiable aspect in every design he undertakes.
