During my recent trip to the vet with my indoor feline companion, I was sternly advised that it was high time for her to shed some pounds. I was instructed to switch her diet from dry food to canned, as the former was deemed more caloric. Determined to comply, I stashed away the bag of dry food, only to find out weeks later that my mischievous cat had managed to sneak her way into the cabinet where the forbidden kibble was hidden. To my surprise, she had torn a hole in the bag and had been indulging in it at her own leisure!
This crafty cat’s antics didn’t stop there. Despite her acrobatic feats to reach the top shelf of my pantry, her calorie-rich escapades weren’t offsetting her weight gain. It can be quite challenging to provide adequate exercise for indoor cats. Hence, I was thoroughly impressed by a ginger tabby featured in a video that showcased her ingenious workout routine.
In the clip, a ginger cat can be seen confidently walking on the control panel of a treadmill. As someone familiar with the havoc cats can wreak on keyboards, I was amazed at how this particular feline navigated the buttons with precision. After setting the treadmill in motion, the cat gracefully descended onto the moving belt and began running—a true display of dedication.
As a cat owner endeavoring to help her pet shed excess weight, I hadn’t considered the possibility of using a treadmill. Traditional feline exercise options like “hamster wheels” had not appealed to me due to space constraints and potential cat napping tendencies. Despite trying to take my cat for walks using a leash and harness, her reluctance to venture outdoors thwarted my efforts.
Currently, her exercise regimen consists of brief sprints across the room in pursuit of our other cat—a far cry from an ideal weight loss strategy. The intriguing video of the gym-savvy cat left me wondering if a treadmill could be the solution for my own feline friend.
The footage captured the cat’s adeptness at maneuvering gym equipment, from pressing buttons with its paws to checking settings on the screen before commencing its workout. The cat’s deliberate actions in the gym setting were nothing short of remarkable.
If my cat can outsmart me by opening pantry doors, perhaps she too could master the intricacies of a treadmill. The cat’s prowess with machinery further solidified the notion that anything is possible in the world of our feline companions.
