Corey Graves Demoted on WWE Commentary Team!

“Imagine pursuing your dream only to be informed, rather than deciding for yourself, that you are no longer physically capable of continuing to chase that dream,” Graves penned on Monday night. “So, you redirect your focus to something ‘dream adjacent’ and excel at it. Yet, when the time comes to reap the rewards of your hard work, you are told you are not sufficiently famous for your own profession. If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, there you have it.”

Graves supplemented his initial post on Tuesday morning with another, now-deleted, message that read, “I’ve got a lot to say. Don’t miss #WWENXT tonight on @TheCW TONIGHT.” Curiously, Graves was absent from the NXT show on Tuesday evening.

Former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman offered insights into the situation, pointing out that changes in commentary teams have been commonplace for decades. “So Corey is upset for being bumped from the main announce roster. Happened to JR 5 times. Happened to Cole multiple times. Happened to me multiple times,” Coachman reflected. “He is right, he is really good at his job. But perhaps a little more flexibility and understanding of the situation could be beneficial next time. Embrace the role you are given and recognize the privilege of having it. There are only 3-5 of these positions at the highest level. Perhaps they asked him to be part of a 3-man booth. We know he doesn’t prefer that. lol. Sorry had to. The last line is a joke. The rest is the wrestling business. It happens.”

Corey Graves being upset about being moved from the main announce team is not an isolated incident in the wrestling industry, as Coachman highlighted. However, he also acknowledged Graves’ talent in his role. Whether Graves’ discontent is genuine or part of a larger storyline remains uncertain. It is plausible that Graves is angling towards a return to in-ring competition, potentially setting the stage for a match against McAfee, a seasoned wrestler and longstanding on-screen rival of Graves.
