Cooper Kupp Signs Megadeal with Seahawks!

After playing for the Los Angeles Rams for the first eight seasons of his NFL career, Cooper Kupp is returning to his home state of Washington. The Yakima native and Eastern Washington University alum has signed a three-year deal worth $45 million with the Seattle Seahawks, according to multiple media reports. Kupp was one of the top remaining free agents in a market that had been largely exhausted earlier in the week.

Kupp officially confirmed the deal on Friday through a social media post, expressing his excitement about “coming home” and proudly wearing the Washington state emblem once again. His time with the Rams came to an end when the team failed to find a trade partner and subsequently released him. Kupp had been with the Rams for his entire eight-year career before his release.

Joining a Seahawks receiving corps that has been thinned out, Kupp will be alongside 23-year-old WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Seahawks recently parted ways with long-time receiver Tyler Lockett and traded DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers after his request.

Originally drafted by the Rams in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Kupp played a crucial role in the Los Angeles offense. He was named Super Bowl MVP during the team’s championship season in 2021, leading the league with 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns on 145 catches. Despite a slight decline in production last season, Kupp contributed 710 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 67 catches as the Rams reached the playoffs but were eliminated in the NFC divisional round by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Prior to the recent Super Bowl, Kupp revealed that the Rams were looking to trade him, a decision he disagreed with but accepted as part of the business. Now, he looks forward to making a significant impact on the field with the Seahawks.
