Connor Leads Jets to Central Division Title in Thrilling Shootout Win!

The Winnipeg Jets secured their first-ever Central Division title and the No. 1 seed for the Western Conference playoffs in a thrilling 5-4 shootout victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. Kyle Connor and Cole Perfetti were the heroes in the shootout for the Jets, who have won four of their last five games. Despite trailing 2-0 after the first period, the Jets rallied back with two goals from Josh Morrissey in the third period. Connor and Nino Niederreiter also found the back of the net for Winnipeg.

Unfortunately, Winnipeg forward Nikolaj Ehlers had to leave the game after colliding with an official in the second period. The Jets will be keeping a close eye on his injury as the regular season comes to a close. The Blackhawks put up a strong fight, with goals from Frank Nazar, Connor Bedard, Ryan Donato, and captain Nick Foligno. It was an emotional night for Chicago as veteran players Pat Maroon and Alec Martinez played their final NHL game, with the team honoring them with highlight videos.

In the end, the Jets celebrated their division title by forming a handshake line with Maroon and Martinez on the ice. Winnipeg now looks ahead to their upcoming game against Edmonton, while Chicago gears up for a matchup with Montreal.
