Confidence in President’s Promises Strong Among Majority of Americans

A significant number of Americans express trust in the promises made by their leader. The majority of Americans believe that President Trump is delivering on the commitments he made during his campaign. According to a recent poll, an overwhelming 70% of respondents feel that Trump is staying true to his campaign pledges, and most of them hold a favorable view of his performance thus far. In contrast, only 30% of those surveyed believe that the President has deviated from his campaign promises. Overall, President Trump’s approval rating stands at 53%, as indicated by a CBS News/YouGov poll.

The positive feedback extends to many of President Trump’s key decisions, with 59% of respondents approving of his actions regarding deportations, while 41% disapprove. Additionally, 64% of individuals support his deployment of troops to the US-Mexico border, compared to 36% who oppose this move.

President Trump’s approval ratings are notably strong at the beginning of his second term in office. Furthermore, a majority of Americans (54%) approve of his approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict, with 46% expressing disapproval.

Critics from the Democratic Party have accused President Trump of straying from his campaign promises, particularly by granting significant authority to Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), to streamline bureaucracy and focusing on territorial expansion abroad. Despite the party’s challenges in communicating its message effectively, many Democratic strategists believe that their criticisms of Musk have resonated with the public, leading to increased scrutiny of his actions.

The CBS/YouGov poll reveals that a majority of Americans support Musk’s involvement in government operations and spending, with 23% advocating for a substantial influence and 28% preferring a moderate level of impact. On the other hand, 18% of respondents wish for Musk to have minimal influence, while 31% oppose any involvement from him in these areas.

President Trump’s governing style diverges significantly from that of recent predecessors, characterized by his direct and assertive decision-making approach, unimpeded by a divided legislature or advisors who challenge his choices. In contrast to former President Joe Biden, Trump maintains a highly visible presence in the public domain, frequently engaging with reporters on Air Force One and in the Oval Office.

When asked to describe President Trump, survey respondents highlighted his perceived qualities, with 69% viewing him as tough, 63% as energetic, 60% as focused, and 58% as effective. However, not all feedback is positive. A substantial 52% of participants oppose the construction of large deportation centers, and a significant 66% believe that President Trump should prioritize reducing the cost of living for ordinary Americans. Additionally, only 13% of respondents supported Trump’s proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip, while 47% considered it a misguided idea.

The majority of Americans also expressed support for utilizing the military to execute
