“Startling: Colorado Woman Convicted of Savage and Unbelievable Murder of Boyfriend”
A Colorado woman has been convicted in the murder of her boyfriend, who was tragically shot twice in the head after expressing doubt about her job search. Following a three-week trial, 29-year-old Ashley White was found guilty of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and robbery concerning the August 2020 death of 28-year-old Cody DeLisa, as stated in a January 28 press release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors depicted White and DeLisa’s relationship as tumultuous and strained in the months leading up to the homicide, with DeLisa frequently criticizing White for her employment struggles, which added to the tension between them. Prosecutors revealed that White harbored resentment, even documenting in her diary that she regretted meeting DeLisa. The situation escalated after an incident where she tried to harm DeLisa’s cat, raising concerns about her mental state.
On the day of the murder, White reportedly attended a job interview in Denver and messaged DeLisa about it while on her way back home. During their text exchange, DeLisa expressed skepticism about her job prospects, which angered White. Subsequently, White struck up a conversation with a stranger on the bus who identified himself as “Scott.” The stranger suggested killing DeLisa after White mentioned their relationship issues.
After disembarking the bus, White and “Scott” proceeded to White’s residence, where Scott claimed to be White’s brother from Texas. DeLisa was then shot twice in the head and robbed of his wallet. His body was discovered during a welfare check the following day. White and Scott spent a few days together before parting ways, never to meet again.
Shortly after the murder, a woman came forward alleging that her boyfriend, Michael Stratton, who was detained for a separate killing in Pueblo, might have been the mysterious “Scott.” The details of Stratton’s confession reportedly matched White’s version of events. Stratton, however, was found unfit to stand trial in the Pueblo case and has not been implicated in DeLisa’s murder.
White is set for sentencing on April 4, with her lawyer currently unavailable for comment.
