A Colorado artist refutes claims of distorting Donald Trump’s portrait that was recently removed from the state Capitol, attributing the president’s criticisms to a decline in her business. The artist, Sarah Boardman of Colorado Springs, contests Trump’s assertion that the portrait was intentionally distorted.
Trump’s remarks led legislative leaders to remove the portrait the following day, which had been on display among past presidents’ portraits for six years. Boardman insists that the portrait was completed accurately and without bias, political or otherwise, as per her contract. Despite receiving positive reviews prior to Trump’s comments, Boardman notes a detrimental impact on her 41-year-old business since the controversy.
The process of replacing the portrait has not yet commenced, with Republican Senator Paul Lundeen advocating for a new portrait that reflects Trump’s current likeness.
