Colin Farrell is possibly taking on another role in the DC Universe as he considers starring in “Sgt. Rock,” a comic book adaptation directed by Luca Guadagnino. Initially, Daniel Craig was considered for the lead, but reports surfaced in February that he had pulled out of the project before officially committing.
In the comics, Sgt. Rock is portrayed as a heroic figure and combat veteran from World War II. Various attempts have been made in the past to bring this character to the big screen with actors like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, although these projects never came to fruition.
Farrell first entered the DC world as the villainous Penguin in 2022’s hit film “The Batman,” alongside Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight. He received critical acclaim for his role and went on to win awards from SAG and the Golden Globes for his portrayal in the HBO spinoff series “The Penguin.”
The screenplay for “Sgt. Rock” is being written by Justin Kuritzkes, known for his work on previous projects with Guadagnino. The movie is being developed with the guidance of DC’s leadership team, James Gunn and Peter Safran. Meanwhile, Gunn’s upcoming film “Superman,” set to premiere in July, aims to usher in a new era for the Warner Bros. comic book universe.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
