It was another exciting day at Coachella, filled with highs and lows. Charli commanded the stage while T-Pain’s performance fell a bit short. Let’s keep this brief as I still have Travis Scott’s set to catch later on.
Highlights of the day included rock acts like Weezer and Green Day showcasing the festival’s return to its rock roots. Weezer kicked things off with a string of hits, followed by a full-blown rock show by Jimmy Eat World, and Green Day’s energetic set making a strong case for more rock acts at Coachella in the future.
Charli XCX also delivered a magical set during the golden hour, exuding charisma and featuring special guests like Troye Sivan and Billie Eilish. Medium Build brought a fun and uplifting vibe to the festival with his charismatic performance.
The weather was idyllic, a welcome change from the scorching temperatures of the previous day. It was a day filled with memorable performances and a promising nod to the future of Coachella.
Coachella proved itself as a top music festival destination, especially after dusk. The pleasant evening temperatures, gentle breeze, and vibrant sunset backdrop set the stage perfectly for thousands gathering at the main stage lawn for Charli XCX’s performance. The scenes at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 12, 2025, showcased the magic of the Outdoor Theatre area.
As a devoted Coachella fan, I often find myself defending the festival against criticisms of it becoming an influencer-centric event. However, it was disheartening to witness disruptive behavior, like excessive noise and distractions during key moments of performances, such as Above & Beyond’s closing minutes. While I support everyone enjoying Coachella in their own way, a bit of decorum wouldn’t hurt.
T-Pain’s set raised eyebrows due to his reliance on backing tracks over live singing, a departure from the norm even for an artist associated with Auto-Tune. Despite this, T-Pain’s infectious energy and hit songs kept the crowd moving and grooving. His surprise covers of “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Don’t Stop Believin’” added unique moments to the festival experience.
Scheduling issues also marred the day, with overlapping sets and quick stage transitions causing frustration for fans. Despite the clashes, memorable performances and unexpected surprises made Saturday at Coachella 2025 a mix of highs and lows.
