Marissa DiNapoli, an 18-year-old California teen, was last seen on June 29. Her boyfriend, Martin Mendoza, has been arrested on a murder charge in connection with her disappearance. Surveillance footage from a Ring camera has emerged, showing the former couple together before DiNapoli went missing.
Police in Morgan Hill named Mendoza a person of interest in DiNapoli’s disappearance. Her body was discovered on July 2, and Mendoza was apprehended while allegedly attempting to re-enter the U.S. through the Mexican border on July 8.
Video footage captured DiNapoli’s final known moments at Mendoza’s home, with the two appearing serious as they interact. DiNapoli is seen leaving the house with Mendoza the day before she was reported missing. Mendoza was later captured on camera running down the stairs carrying a bag.
DiNapoli was found stabbed five times in the back when her body was discovered. Mendoza has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail. The victim’s family described her as a kind and loving individual.
Mendoza’s plea hearing is scheduled for September. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or visit thehotline.org for assistance.
