Chief of War! Jason Momoa Leads in Apple TV Drama Trailer

Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman, is stepping away from the kingdom of Atlantis to portray a warrior in 18th-century Hawai’i in Apple TV+’s new series, “Chief of War.” The streaming platform has unveiled a trailer for this historical drama, with the first two episodes set to premiere on Friday, August 1, followed by weekly releases until September 19. The story follows Ka’iana, played by Momoa, as he leads the charge to unite Hawai’i against colonizers. This nine-episode series offers a unique perspective on the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous standpoint.

The cast of “Chief of War” is predominantly Polynesian and includes actors such as Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, Te Kohe Tuhaka, Benjamin Hoetjes, and newcomer Kaina Makua. Momoa is not only starring in the series but also co-created it with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, known for writing the 2018 film “Braven.”
