One woman sought a way for her cats to safely frolic in the snow. And now, her snow day activity hack is garnering applause from cat owners everywhere. If the idea of letting your cat outside to play in the snow makes you nervous, this alternative brings the winter fun indoors instead.
Cat owners are known for their ingenuity in keeping their pets entertained. Angie’s innovative plan to recreate a snow day inside was truly brilliant. To execute this idea, all you need is a large plastic tub, a sturdy shovel, and, of course, snow. Angie and her partner filled the tub with snow and left it for their cats to explore. The felines adored it! They placed the tub on towels to prevent any mess on the floor.
The black and orange cats appeared to be thoroughly enjoying themselves! However, Angie cautioned that not all cats may be fans of snow. The feedback on this idea in the comments section was overwhelmingly positive. “This is hilarious! How did you know they’d like a box of snow?!” one person pondered. “I love how they took turns,” praised another. “I’ve seen people put snow in their bathtub for their pets… then it just melts away,” shared a commenter. “I hide treats in mine for them to dig out. All but one of my six cats enjoyed digging for treats,” advised someone else.
Do Cats Love Snow? Some cats aren’t particularly fond of cold weather. It can be quite chilly out there! That’s why these cats prefer to stay indoors where it’s warm with their human companions. However, each cat is unique. While some cats may never warm up to snow, others may enjoy it. Cats originally come from desert climates, so some may have an aversion to anything cold. On the other hand, breeds with thick fur have adapted to colder climates and can handle lower temperatures with ease. Ultimately, whether a cat enjoys snow can vary.
Certain breeds, such as Maine Coon Cats, Turkish Angoras, Scottish Folds, and Siberians, have evolved to thrive in cold weather. They revel in it! If your cat doesn’t belong to one of these breeds, it’s a bit of trial and error. Some cats may relish the snow, while others may prefer snuggling on the couch with their owner – which doesn’t sound like a bad option at all.
