A few months ago, while playing outside, an older child bullied Hunter, hurling a homophobic slur at him and suggesting he take his own life. Shocked, Hunter reached for a knife, prompting his mother, Meghan Fancher, to intervene and seek help. Following the distressing episode, Hunter spent two weeks at Children’s of Alabama hospital in Birmingham.
Seeking to uplift her son’s spirits, Fancher made a humble request on social media for some cars to greet Hunter upon his return home. This call for support reached Sergio Sanchez, a local restaurant owner in Clanton, who mobilized car clubs to show solidarity with Hunter.
The response was overwhelming, as around 1,500 cars, along with an equal number of well-wishers, converged to greet Hunter. The outpouring of love and support, symbolized by the rainbow-colored glasses Hunter proudly wore, made a significant impact on the boy’s well-being.
