Police revealed on Friday that a missing California mother who had planned to divorce her husband before she disappeared last year has been declared a victim of homicide. Nikki Cheng Saelee-McCain was last heard from on May 18, 2024, ten days after she informed loved ones of her intentions to end her 15-year marriage with husband Tyler McCain. A missing person’s report was filed for her on May 22, 2024, and has now escalated to a homicide investigation. Nikki has not been seen or heard from since May 2024. Detectives have determined she is a victim of homicide based on evidence collected and information from interviews, as well as the fact that her family has had no contact with her since May 18th. Several persons of interest have been identified in the case, but their identities have not been disclosed due to the ongoing investigation. Authorities recently conducted a search at Saelee-McCain’s last known residence before she went missing. They are also seeking information on a red truck that picked up an adult male in Platina, Calif., between May 18 and May 25, 2024. The investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed. McCain, who had been facing felony domestic violence charges, was accused by his wife of severe abuse, but he has not been named a suspect in her disappearance.
Charges against McCain were dismissed following his wife’s disappearance. He denied assaulting her and asserted that her injuries resulted from a confrontation with another person. Authorities are providing a total reward of up to $30,000 for any details that help locate Saelee-McCain.
