A man accused of fatally stabbing three of his family members, including an 8-year-old girl and a teenage boy, is being held without bail in Los Angeles County, announced District Attorney Nathan Hochman. Kyle Chester De Los Reyes, 23, allegedly committed the murders at the family’s Baldwin Park residence in Pomona, California, on December 26 around 6:48 p.m.
The victims have been identified as Paul Sebastian Manangan, 16, Rona Nate, 44, and Chantelle Narvaez, 8, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. De Los Reyes’s relationship to the victims and the motive behind the killings remain unclear. Hochman pledged to pursue justice vigorously in response to the tragic violence that has deeply impacted the community and forever altered the lives of the victims’ family.
Hochman stated in a news release, “My office will work tirelessly to ensure that justice is served in this devastating act of violence, which has shaken our community and left a family forever changed. Violent crime not only robs us of innocent lives but also threatens the very fabric of our community. Let this be a clear message: those who commit heinous acts of violence will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Hochman, who was sworn in by former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger outside the Hall of Justice on December 3, 2024, emphasized that De Los Reyes has been officially charged with three counts of murder. In addition to the murder charges, he faces special allegations of using a deadly weapon and committing multiple murders.
Following the incident, Baldwin Park police encountered De Los Reyes leaving the family’s residence and fleeing in a vehicle, as reported by CBS News. Initially considered a person of interest, he was promptly apprehended, charged, and taken into custody. De Los Reyes is scheduled for arraignment at the Pomona Branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court on January 15.
