Caitlin Clark’s Nike Kobe 5 Protro sneakers, a collaboration with the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, were released and quickly sold out on Monday morning. Priced at $190, the Kobe V Protro features vibrant blue, red, and gold colors representing Clark’s team, the Indiana Fever. The sneakers were available online at 10 a.m. EDT and were sold out within minutes. It remains unknown how many pairs were sold or when the next release will be. Resale listings on platforms like eBay are already offering the sneakers at prices exceeding $350.
Nike described the sneakers as having shades of “Midnight Navy, Bright Crimson, University Gold accents, and a high-gloss finish.” Bryant, one of basketball’s most renowned figures before his retirement in 2016 and tragic passing in 2020, collaborated on this design with Clark, who has become a prominent figure in women’s basketball. Clark, known for her exceptional scoring record, was named the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year and was honored as Time magazine’s Athlete of the Year in 2024.
In addition to her individual accolades, Clark and fellow player Napheesa Collier were named as captains for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game, which is set to take place on July 19 at the Indiana Fever’s home arena, Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
