Brooklyn Resident Fatally Shot by Scooter-Riding Gunman Near Home!

A man known for his caring nature and devotion to his family was tragically killed in a shooting in Brighton Beach. Elijah Scott, 45, was shot multiple times by a gunman riding a scooter near his home on 2954 Brighton 12th Street around 10 p.m. on Friday. Described as a doting uncle and a loving son by his sister Ebony Scott, Elijah was known for his selfless dedication to his loved ones.

“He spoiled his nieces and nephews rotten. He spoiled his mother rotten. He would do anything for his mother. Family was everything to him,” Ebony Scott said.

Despite being rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, Elijah could not be saved. The shooter, who fled the scene on the black electric scooter, remains at large. It is unclear whether the shots were fired while the gunman was riding or had stopped.

“He was the type of person that showed up for anybody who needed him,” Ebony Scott remembered.

As police continue to investigate the incident, friends of Elijah have set up a memorial of candles in his honor. One friend described him as having a great heart and being someone who always looked out for others.

“He was somebody that cared for others,” the friend said. “If something bad was going on, he would get himself involved to stop it.”

Prior to his tragic death, Elijah had a history of past arrests, including one in 2023 for criminal possession of a weapon. The shooter, described as wearing a baseball cap, black jacket, and gray hooded sweatshirt, is still being sought by authorities. Ballistics evidence was recovered at the scene, with photos showing multiple evidence markers on the sidewalk.

The community mourns the loss of Elijah Scott, a beloved family man, and awaits further updates on the investigation into his senseless death.
