Bride’s Midnight Mission: Unveiling Lucy Jane Cakes’ Wedding Masterpieces!

Lucy has been honing her baking skills her entire life and turned professional in 2016. The talented buttercream artist behind Lucy Jane Cakes boasts an impressive following of 105,000 on Instagram and nearly 200,000 on TikTok. When she decided to take on the challenge of creating seven stunning wedding cakes, Lucy was confident in her abilities.

“I always wanted to do something unique but wasn’t sure about the scale of it, as I usually make cakes for others and rarely for myself,” Lucy shares. “This was going to be a special day for us, and I wanted to incorporate personal touches from our lives into our wedding.”

Reflecting on the experience, Lucy muses that if the restaurant had sufficient storage space, she might have created even more cakes. However, she acknowledges that managing seven cakes alongside other wedding preparations was quite demanding.

“A wedding is a stressful event for most couples,” Lucy notes, having gotten engaged merely nine months before her March 2024 wedding. “Taking on the added pressure of not just one wedding cake but seven… it felt overwhelming, and I felt like I was drowning in the week leading up to the wedding.”

She advises against any bride undergoing such a feat just two days before her wedding, emphasizing the intense pressure it entails.

Despite the challenges, Lucy’s dedication paid off. “The cakes exceeded my expectations, and it was incredibly special to feel proud of my creations on our wedding day,” she expresses. “It’s a moment I will always cherish, knowing that I achieved something truly unique for our special day. The effort, stress, and worry were absolutely worth it!”

Each cake featured a distinct flavor and intricate colorful decorations, showcasing Lucy’s creativity and expertise.

On her wedding day, Lucy arranged the cakes on a dessert table themed “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue!” With the help of her maid of honor and the restaurant staff, she meticulously positioned everything without a speck of frosting ruining her pristine white attire.

The guests marveled at the display, and Lucy even provided takeaway boxes for them to savor the delectable treats the following day. This gesture allowed her loved ones to experience her renowned baking skills firsthand.

Detailing the elements of the dessert table, Lucy incorporated “Something Old” with the iconic brownies she started in 2008, “Something New” with a freshly baked sponge cake, “Something Borrowed” represented by Krispy Kreme donuts, and “Something Blue” embodied in one of the cakes.

Personalized paper with the couple’s initials, “L&O,” adorned the takeaway boxes, enhancing the customized touch. Additionally, a figurine of the couple’s beloved sausage dog, Frank, added a delightful and personal touch to the wedding celebration.

Incorporated into the chocolates were adorable figurines of Lucy and Oliver for the main cake topper. “We enhanced the atmosphere with the delightful scent of our beloved Diptyque Baies candle and curated a special cocktail menu featuring our favorite drinks,” Lucy enthusiastically recounts. “Furthermore, each menu was personalized with a photo of us alongside the respective guest, underscoring the significance of customization on our special day.” Dive deeper into the captivating story by visiting the original article on People magazine.
