Breathtaking Start as Schenn, Buchnevich Propel Blues Past Ducks 72!

The St. Louis Blues triumphed over the Anaheim Ducks with a convincing 7-2 victory on Sunday night. Brayden Schenn and Pavel Buchnevich wasted no time, each scoring a goal within the first 90 seconds of the game. Dylan Holloway and Jake Neighbours contributed with a goal and an assist each, while Radek Faksa, Mathieu Joseph, and Oskar Sundqvist also found the back of the net for St. Louis. Jordan Kyrou recorded three assists, and Justin Faulk had two. In goal, Jordan Binnington made 22 saves to secure the win for the Blues, who have now won eight of their last 11 games (8-2-1) and are tied with Vancouver for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.

On the opposing side, Cutter Gauthier and Nikita Nesterenko scored for the Ducks, with Mason McTavish providing two assists. Despite their efforts, Anaheim suffered their fifth loss in seven games. Lukas Dostal allowed five goals on 14 shots in the first two periods before being replaced by Ville Husso, who made 10 saves in the third period.

Schenn’s milestone 16th goal of the season set the tone early in the game, followed quickly by Buchnevich’s 14th goal. The Blues’ aggressive play limited Anaheim’s scoring chances throughout the night. Schenn’s physical play extended to a fight with Ducks’ defenseman Jacob Trouba, resulting in penalties for both players.

The game was delayed by two hours due to a mechanical issue with the Blues’ plane following their previous game in Minnesota. St. Louis capitalized on power play opportunities, going 3 for 4 with the man advantage, while also perfect on the penalty kill and scoring a short-handed goal.

Looking ahead, the Ducks will face Dallas on Tuesday, while the Blues are set to play in Nashville.
