On Friday, authorities apprehended another individual suspected of aiding inmates in their escape from a New Orleans jail.
The New Orleans Police Department confirmed that four individuals were detained at a residence, and that Emmitt Weber, aged 28, had been arrested on charges of being an accessory after the fact of a simple escape. He is accused of helping two inmates following their escape from the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility.
He is the most recent suspect in custody for allegedly helping those involved in the escape on 16 May. As of Friday, five of the ten escaped inmates were still at large. The latest arrest came when Corey Boyd was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Among those recaptured are Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis and Gary Price. Two others, Casey Smith and Cortnie Harris, have also been arrested on suspicion of aiding the escapees. Connie Weeden, 59, has also reportedly been charged with providing financial assistance to one of the escapees via a cellphone app.
Connie Weeden, a third accomplice in the jailbreak, has been charged with one felony count of being an accessory after the fact.
Several fugitives remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous by the authorities. Those who have yet to be apprehended include Lenton J. Vanburen Jr., Jermaine Donald, Antoine Massey, Derrick Groves and Leo O. Tate Sr.
