Palm Beach, Florida – President Donald Trump has announced that he is terminating former President Joe Biden’s access to classified information and halting his daily intelligence briefings in retaliation for Biden’s actions in 2021. Trump made the announcement on social media shortly after arriving at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach.
In his post, Trump stated, “There is no justification for Joe Biden to retain access to classified information. Therefore, we are revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances and discontinuing his daily Intelligence Briefings. He set this precedent in 2021 when he directed the Intelligence Community to block the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing National Security details.”
This move is part of Trump’s ongoing efforts to settle scores in Washington. He has previously revoked security clearances of more than four dozen former intelligence officials who questioned the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. Trump has also removed security details from former government officials critical of him, including Mike Pompeo and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Biden has not yet responded to Trump’s decision. Biden had ended Trump’s intelligence briefings following Trump’s actions related to the 2020 election and the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Biden had expressed concerns about Trump’s behavior and the implications of him continuing to receive intelligence briefings.
In a separate development, federal agents recently searched Trump’s Florida residence and seized classified records. Trump was indicted on multiple felony charges related to mishandling classified information, but the charges were later dismissed. Additionally, Trump has replaced Colleen Shogan as the archivist of the United States amid allegations of mishandling classified documents.
Trump referenced a report from the special counsel regarding Biden’s handling of classified documents, citing concerns about Biden’s memory and trustworthiness with sensitive information.
He concluded his message by declaring, “I will always prioritize our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” The special counsel Robert Hur conducted an inquiry into Biden’s management of classified information and determined that there were no grounds for criminal charges. However, the assessment delivered was scathingly critical of Biden’s handling of sensitive government records. The investigation report depicted Biden’s recollection abilities as “hazy,” “fuzzy,” “faulty,” “poor,” and with “significant limitations.” It highlighted Biden’s inability to recall key moments in his own life, such as the passing of his son Beau or his tenure as vice president.
According to Trump, the decision to terminate briefings for Biden lies with the incumbent president, as it pertains to access to classified information for former presidents. Steven Cheung, the president’s communications director, echoed Trump’s sentiments on the X social media platform, sharing the president’s post and affirming, “Hit the road Jack and don’t you come back no more!”
