Following the tragic passing of his ex-wife Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff, Hollywood star David Hasselhoff has broken his silence. Pamela was discovered deceased at her Los Angeles residence around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, as confirmed by LAPD to PEOPLE. She was 62 years old. While TMZ reported that she took her own life with a self-inflicted gunshot, the official cause of death is still pending according to the L.A. medical examiner.
David, who was married to Pamela from 1989 to 2006 and is the father of daughters Taylor, 34, and Hayley, 32, with her, expressed in a statement to PEOPLE: “Our family mourns deeply the loss of Pamela Hasselhoff.” He went on to say, “We appreciate the love and support received during this trying time and respectfully ask for privacy as we navigate through this challenging period.”
Although neither of Pamela’s daughters has publicly addressed her passing, Hayley shared a photo from a fan account depicting her parents at the grand opening of the Jurassic Park ride in 1996 on her Instagram Stories, overlaying it with a “🤍” symbol in tribute to her parents’ past together.
David, 72, and Pamela tied the knot in 1989 after meeting on the set of Knight Rider, where she guest-starred. Pamela later appeared frequently on Baywatch, and they welcomed Taylor in 1990 followed by Hayley in 1992.
After 16 years of marriage, they divorced in 2006, obtaining joint custody of their teenage daughters at the time. David remarried model Hayley Roberts in 2018.
In Pamela’s last Instagram post on New Year’s Eve, she expressed gratitude for the previous year and the joy of becoming a grandmother to Taylor’s daughter, London. She reflected on the blessing of witnessing her granddaughter’s growth and infectious smile. Looking ahead, Pamela shared her hopes for the new year, emphasizing a focus on making lasting memories, spreading happiness, and cherishing every moment.
