Brave Attempt to Escape Results in Assault on Officer

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding witnesses following an incident in which a suspect violently struck a female officer while attempting to flee. The Avon and Somerset Police were conducting a routine vehicle stop outside the village hall on Meadow Lane in Walton, Somerset, at approximately 5:20 PM GMT on January 17th.
A male passenger in the vehicle decided to make a run for it on foot, prompting the officer to give chase. In a shocking turn of events, the suspect turned back and physically assaulted the officer, causing her to stumble and hit her head. The severity of her injuries necessitated medical attention at a nearby hospital.
The suspect managed to escape the scene and is described as a white male, standing at around 6 feet tall with a medium build, believed to be in his late 30s. He was reportedly dressed in a t-shirt, a dark hooded zip-up jacket, and a bright fluorescent yellow tabard at the time of the incident.
During the operation, two men aged 35 and 36 were apprehended at the location on suspicion of being connected to the illegal supply of cocaine. They have since been released pending further investigation.
