Booker’s Heroics Secure Texas Victory Over LSU, Setting Up Epic Rematch with South!

In Greenville, South Carolina, Madison Booker led No. 1 Texas to a 56-49 victory over ninth-ranked LSU, scoring 25 points to secure a spot in the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game. The Longhorns will now face fifth-ranked South Carolina, who defeated No. 10 Oklahoma 93-75 earlier in the day.

Texas avenged a previous loss to South Carolina with a 66-62 victory last month after falling 67-50 in their earlier matchup. The Longhorns have since gone on a 15-game winning streak, maintaining a record of 31-2.

Despite missing star player Flau’Jae Johnson due to injury, LSU (28-5) faced further setbacks when Aneesah Morrow suffered a left ankle injury in the third quarter. Morrow, who set a school tournament-record with 36 points in a previous game, had to leave the court but returned to the bench wearing a protective boot.

LSU’s Mikaylah Williams scored 11 points, while head coach Kim Mulkey allowed assistant coach Bob Starkey to lead the team in her absence. Mulkey watched from the bench as the Tigers struggled from the foul line, going 9 for 17.

Looking ahead, Texas faces a tough challenge against South Carolina, who boasts a strong track record in SEC Tournament games in Greenville. Meanwhile, LSU is anticipated to host an NCAA Tournament game.
