The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has determined that Jabbar acted alone in carrying out the attack. Prior to the 3:15 a.m. CST incident, Jabbar posted five videos on social media expressing support for the Islamic State terrorist group ISIS. The FBI reported that an ISIS flag was discovered in the back of the truck used in the attack. President Biden disclosed on Thursday that the suspect had a remote detonator in his truck intended to trigger two explosive devices concealed inside ice coolers along Bourbon Street.
Following the tragic events during New Year’s celebrations in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Jan. 2, 2025, Brian Lee performed on the piano with his band at Ticklers Piano Show on Bourbon Street, coinciding with the opening of the street. This occurred after several individuals lost their lives in the attack carried out by a man driving a truck. President Biden mentioned that law enforcement officials have not uncovered any evidence linking the New Orleans incident to the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside a Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. It is noteworthy that the suspect in both cases has ties to the U.S. military.
Against the backdrop of security concerns in Washington, D.C., where Congress is set to convene to certify the electoral votes affirming President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, President Biden is scheduled to visit New Orleans on Jan. 6. This visit comes in the aftermath of the deadly truck attack and aims to show support and solidarity with the affected community.
