Beyoncé Knowles-Carter put on a groundbreaking concert to kick off her “Cowboy Carter” tour in Houston. Despite encountering a technical glitch that left her suspended midair during the show, she flawlessly continued her performance. The Grammy-winning singer started her first hometown concert at NRG Stadium in Houston on June 28 at 7:50 p.m. as part of her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour. She is scheduled for an additional performance on June 29.
During the June 28 concert, as Beyoncé sang her hit single “16 Carriages” while elevated in a red car, a technical issue caused the vehicle to tilt. She paused the show momentarily, instructing everyone to “stop,” before being safely lowered to the ground among the audience. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Following this incident, Beyoncé returned to the stage composed and resilient, joking about the mishap by stating, “if I ever fall, I know y’all will catch me,” and proceeded to close out the show.
This Houston performance followed Beyoncé’s successful international tour stops, including a series in London and Paris where she surprised fans by inviting Miley Cyrus and Jay-Z for guest performances. The “Cowboy Carter” tour debuted at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles with a 39-song set list filled with a mix of family, fashion, diverse music genres, and significant commentary on culture. The tour will encompass nine cities in the U.S. and Europe, concluding with a grand finale in Las Vegas on July 26.
