Several members of the Beverly Hills, 90210 cast, including Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, and Ian Ziering, reunited at 90s Con to discuss their iconic series. During the event, the cast confirmed a surprising rule put in place by Aaron Spelling, Tori’s father and the renowned TV producer who passed away in 2006. According to Priestley, Spelling enforced a ban on sunglasses on set to ensure that the actors’ eyes were visible on screen, as he believed that ‘the eyes are the windows to the soul.’
The cast reminisced about this rule and shared insights into Spelling’s dedication to showcasing their eyes in scenes. Despite the initial restriction, they revealed that sunglasses did make appearances in later seasons of the show. Additionally, Tori and Green mentioned a fun fact about their characters celebrating their fictional 25th wedding anniversary this year, jokingly tying it to their on-screen names, David and Donna Silver.
90210 fans were also provided with a glimpse into the cast’s thoughts on the 2008 revival series and the unresolved storyline surrounding David and Donna’s marriage. Throughout the panel, the actors expressed their fond memories of working on the beloved show that aired from 1990 to 2000 on Fox, featuring the late Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty. Garth reflected on the joy of revisiting the series for their podcast, highlighting the unique experience of watching the show as a whole after years of only seeing their individual scenes during filming.

The presence of guest stars on the set of “Beverly Hills, 90210” was often a surprise for the cast, as they were so busy that they wouldn’t even know about it until after the guest had left. Actor Brian Austin Green recalled a time when Burt Reynolds appeared in a season 3 episode, and some cast members didn’t realize it until later. Green described the excitement of finding out that a legendary actor like Reynolds had been on set, even though he wasn’t part of their scene. It was a thrilling experience for the cast to be in the presence of such iconic figures at the Peach Pit.
