Barcelona Duo Casadó and Martínez Shockingly Omitted from Spain’s Nations League Squad!

MADRID (AP) — Spain will be without midfielder Marc Casadó and central defender Iñigo Martínez due to injuries for the Nations League quarter-final, the national soccer federation announced on Monday. The defending champions will face the Netherlands away on Thursday and then host them for the return match on Sunday.

Casadó sustained a right knee injury during the second half of Barcelona’s 4-2 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Spanish league on Sunday. National team coach Luis de la Fuente has called up Bayer Leverkusen’s Aleix García as a replacement.

Martínez, Casadó’s Barcelona teammate, is also dealing with a right knee issue, although he managed to complete the match against Atletico. Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, a member of Spain’s under-21 squad, has been called up to replace Martínez for the upcoming Nations League fixtures.
