In a disturbing incident that shook commuters aboard a Brooklyn-bound train in the early hours of Monday morning, a 39-year-old man fell victim to an unprovoked attack by a stranger. Reports from law enforcement and sources detailed the harrowing assault that took place on a Manhattan-bound D train as it passed through DeKalb Avenue around 2:45 a.m.
According to police, the assailant, described as a menace, suddenly punched and slashed the unsuspecting victim across the chest. Prior to the violent outburst, the aggressor had attempted to engage the victim in conversation, but the victim was unable to comprehend the individual’s incomprehensible ramblings, as per sources familiar with the situation.
Following the vicious attack, the perpetrator swiftly fled the scene, leaving the victim to disembark at the next station, Grand Street in Manhattan. It was there that the victim urgently contacted emergency services by dialing 911. Subsequently, the injured man was promptly transported to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

The inaugural phase of this initiative commenced on Monday night, with 100 officers being dispatched to patrol the A, G, J, and L lines. The implementation of this strategy aims to have two officers monitoring each of the city’s approximately 150 overnight trains from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., providing a heightened level of vigilance and protection for commuters.
